External Policy of Republic of Angola

Commercial relations between the two countries started on 1st, March 1983 through dialogue between trade delegations of the People's Republic of Angola and the People's Republic of China.
In the past 24 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1983, leaders of both countries have periodically made reciprocal visits. Political parties, governments, youth organizations, trade unions, friendship leagues and media (print, radios and televisions) of both countries have made reciprocal and effective visits at all levels.

The Republic of Angola always supports the positions and standpoints of the People's Republic of China in international organizations and, vice-versa. Both the Angolan government and the Chinese government wish to increase high-level contacts and explore cooperation in various areas, strengthen consultation and cooperation in regional and international affairs so as to protect the interests of both sides, maintain peace and stability maintain a relationship of good will and consolidate bilateral relations.

On 9th December 1984 a delegation of me People's Republic of China visited Angola and signed an agreement. And a credit accord between the governments of the two countries was signed.

Under this accord, the People's Republic of China agreed to loan RMB50,000,000 to the Republic of Angola for a Party School construction project. If the political situation in Angola changed it would be used for the construction of the VIANA II economic housing project.

A technical delegation of the People's Republic of China visited the Republic of Angola on 26th June 1985. The National Bank of Angola and the Bank of China signed an agreement in relation to accounting audit on performance of the credit accord signed on 9th December 1984. In March 1988 H.E. Mr. Jose Eduardo Dos Santos, President of the Republic of Angola, made his first visit to the People's Republic of China. Both parties published a joint communiqu¨¦ and signed cooperation and credit agreements.
