Visa Applications

Q:Is a visa required to enter Botswana?

A:Yes, all visitors must obtain a valid entry visa to Botswana, except citizens of some Commonwealth countries. A visa is not required of individuals from a number of other countries. Chinese citizens require a visa to enter Botswana. Visitors are advised to enquire, prior to travel, if a visa is required of their country.

Q:How do I travel to and within Botswana?

A:Travel to and from Botswana is possible by air. Travel within Botswana is possible by air, rail and road transport. Botswana is linked to the rest of the world by Air Botswana and regional airlines. The airlines also operate convenient flights to and from the entire region tourist centres.

Visitor's Bookings/Reservations

Q:Do I need advance reservation for hotels and parks/game reserves entry?

A:Reservations for travel to Botswana and entry to National Parks and Game Reserves should be made prior to travel with tour operators or at the Reservation offices in Botswana.

Banking

Q:Are there any banking facilities in Botswana?

A:Foreign currency can be brought in and out of the country provided it is declared. All banks, hotels and lodges accept convertible foreign currency or traveller cheques. Credit cards are accepted as forms of payment, but only to a limited extent.

Health

Q:What health precautions do I need to take?

A:Malaria is prevalent in northern Botswana, and may occur seasonally in a few other areas. As a precaution, visitors are advised to consult their physician before departure to Botswana. Botswana like other countries has been affected by the Aids pandemic. Government has put in place measures to address problems this scourge has created, and the general advice by the worldwide Aids awareness campaigns should be heeded.

The Embassy of the Republic of Botswana in Beijing; China is charged with the responsibility to provide consular services to all Botswana nationals residing in China and other areas of accreditation. In case you lose your passport while in China, kindly do the following¡¯

REPLACEMENT OF PASSPORTS

  • Completed original Form PP1 (PP2 not accepted)


  • Two passport size photos

    Copies of 5 first pages of the old passport

    Copy of Omang

    Replacement fee of P50.00 or US Dollar equivalent

Note: Applicants are advised to submit ALL the required documents and to ensure that the forms are signed and that the section for Commissioner of Oath is also signed by the relevant authorities prior to submission. The Embassy shall not be responsible for any delays arising from incomplete submissions.
The Embassy only accepts cash payments in US Dollars of fees from outside China. Please note that bank cheaques / checks are not allowed.

To apply for an Emergency Traveling Document (ETD), kindly submit the following;

  • Two passport size photos,


  • Letter stating the reasons for applying for ETD,


  • Police Affidavit

  • P50.00 or USD equivalent,


  • Date and place of birth and occupation

SERVICES TO CHINESE AND OTHER NON CITIZENS/ FOREIGN NATIONALS

Other than rendering services to Botswana nationals, the Embassy of the Republic of Botswana in Beijing also provides consular services to Chinese nationals and nationals of other areas of accreditation.

APPLICATIONS FOR VISA TO ENTER THE REPUBLIC OF BOTSWANA SHOULD INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING;

  • Fully completed Immigration Supplementary Form D;

  • ¡¡

  • Certified copies of first three pages of passport

  • ¡¡

  • Two identical recent passport size photographs(with owner¡¯s name at the back)

  • ¡¡

  • Covering letter from the host

  • ¡¡

  • A certified copy of host¡¯s national identity/residence permit/exemption certificate/naturalization certificate

  • ¡¡

  • A non refundable fee of p500 per application

  • ¡¡

  • Passport valid six months after planned return date

  • ¡¡

  • Return Air ticket
