Investment Incentives
Botswana offers the
following unique investment incentives:
a) corporate tax rate is only 15% for manufacturing enterprises,
the lowest in the region;
b) the Financial Assistance Policy comprising refund of wages
for shop-floor workers (80% - 20%) over a five-year period,
capital grant (US$200 per job created) and training grant
(50%);
c) profits, dividends and capital can be readily repatriated
( no foreign exchange control in Botswana);
d) foreign reserves to the tune of US$6 billion, representing
thirty monthsĠ import cover;
e) political stability and social harmony are key features
of the country;
f) inflation is in single figures;
g) credibility and credit-worthiness is very high (number
three in Africa);
h) one of the most competitive countries in Africa;
i) rated the least corrupt country in Sub-Saharan Africa by
Amnesty International;
j) highest per capita expenditure on education in the world;
k) educated and readily trainable English speaking labour
force;
l) very reasonable wages, about US$80/month;
m) good industrial relations, no worker unrest or strikes.
