the Embassy
of Sri Lanka in Beijing provides consular assistance such as issue
of passports, renewal of passports, registration of births to Sri
Lankan nationals living in mainland China, HKSAR and Macau SAR.

Applications
for Sri Lanka passports and extension of passports
Please read
the instructions given below carefully before you start filling
the application for issue of a new passport or an extension of the
current passport.
1. Issue
of new passport in lieu of existing passport
When applying
for a new passport, please complete form 'K' and return it to the
Sri
Lanka Embassy
in Beijing together with the following documents:
i) Your present
passport
ii) three colour
photographs of high quality and clarity of size 4.5cm.X 3.5cm.
iii) A demand
draft for HKD 1130/- or Chinese RMB 1215/- drawn in favour of "Embassy
of Sri Lanka in China" payable at "Bank of China Head Office, Beijing"
(Beneficiary's Bank).
iv) Cost of
Express Mail Service (EMS) is HKD110/- or RMB 40/- within mainland
China. If the processed passport is to be returned under EMS post,
please add the above charges to the passport fee.
Please note
that the issue of a new passport will take between 6-8 weeks as
this Embassy has to forward your application to the Controller of
Immigration and Emigration in Sri Lanka for processing and a new
passport issued.
2. Issue
of New Passport to a child whose name in already entered in a parent's
passport
the following
documents are required
i) Passports
of both parents.
ii) Birth Certificate
issued by the approved Sri Lankan authority
iii) Consent
letter signed by both parents for the issue of a separate passport
for the child
iv) three colour
photographs of high quality and clarity of size 4.5cm. X 3.5cm.
v) Form 'K'
annexure filled and signed
vi) Fee of
HKD 1130/- or RMB 1215/-
vii) Cost of
express Mail Service (EMS) HKD 110/- or RMB 40/- in addition to
the above fee for the new passport.
3. Issue
of a new passport in lieu of a lost passport
i) A Police
report with English translation
ii) Duly filled
form 'D'
iii) Duly filled
form 'K'
iv) Original
birth certificate and Sri Lanka National Identity Card
v) Fee of HKD
2890/- or RMB 3070/-
vi) If the original
of the Sri Lankan National Identity Card or the Sri Lankan birth
certificate is not available, the applicant will have to submit
such other documentary evidence as would satisfy the Embassy beyond
all doubt of his/her Sri Lankan nationality. In such cases the fee
is HKD 3670/- or RMB 3890/-
vii) Cost of
Express Mail Service (EMS) HKD110/- or RMB 40/- in addition to the
above fee for the lost passport.
4. Documents
necessary for extension of a passport
i) Current Passport
ii) 'O' form
filled and signed
iii) HKD 25/-
per year or RMB 30/- per year iv) Cost of EMS HKD 110/- or RMB 40/-
in addition to the above fee for the extension of passport.
Please note:
A passport, which is more than 10 years old from the date of issue,
cannot be renewed.
5. Registration
of Birth
It is essential
to register a child who was born outside Sri Lanka, at the Embassy
of Sri Lanka if the child's name is to be entered in the passport
of one of the parents. Registration of births should be made
after 3 months and within one year from the date of birth. Please
note that if the father of the child is a foreign national, in terms
of the Citizenship Act no: 18 of 1948 (as amended) the child is
not deemed to be a citizen of Sri Lanka and hence his/her name cannot
be registered. For the registration of birth, the following documents
should be submitted:
1. Declaration
of birth under Section 16 (Form Registration B 4), if application
is made within three months of birth or if application is made under
Section 24 after 3 months since birth or Form Registration B6. these
declaration forms should be completed in duplicate.
II. Application
for registration of birth outside Sri Lanka (Form Citizenship -
1), should be completed in duplicate.
III. Declaration
of citizenship by father. this should be filled in triplicate(fathers
passport should be sent)
iv. Birth certificate
of the child (original) issued by the competent author |
