With effect
from 21st June 1999, Chinese nationals are eligible to obtain visas
on arrival in Sri Lanka.
However, if
visas are required in advance of travel, this Embassy has a same
day service for which the following documents have to be produced.
1. General
requirements for processing visa applications:
visa application
form available on line)
- Passport
which should be valid for 3 months from the date of departure,
as appearing in the air ticket v Financial standing
- A colour
photograph (4cm x 3cm) v Original of return air ticket together
with a photocopy
- Visa fee
of RMB 150 ( 2 working days) or;
Visa fee of RMB 250 ( same day service)
2. Business
travel
In addition
to requirements at 01 above, the following must be furnished to
process the visa application.
- A letter
of invitation from a company in Sri Lanka
- A supporting
letter from the company/government institution in China which
the traveller represents or is employed
3. Visit
Visa to obtain Residency
In addition
to requirements at 01 above, the following documents have to be
furnished to process the visa application.
- A letter
from the Controller, Emigration and Immigration in Colombo
- A copy of
the employment contract
- A supporting
letter from the company in China, which the traveller represents
or is employed
4. Group
travel (tourism)
Designated Chinese
travel Agencies handling visa applications for group tours organised
by them should submit the following documents:
- An official
letter duly signed and sealed by an authorised representative
of the designated travel agency/tour operator
- A name list
of the tour group
- Application
forms individually completed by each members of the tour group
- Valid passports
NOtE
Sri Lanka Embassy
will not accept visa applications for tour group tours to Sri Lanka,
submitted by Chinese travel agencies, unit or individual, other
than these designated Chinese travel agencies registered with the
China National tourism Authority (CNtA).
Applicants residing
in regions outside Beijing may also apply by paying a fee of RMB
25/= in addition, to the visa fee of RMB 150/=.
Payment:
- Applying
in person
those applying in person at the Embassy should pay visa fees in
cash (RMB), for which an official receipt would be issued.
- Applying
by post/courier
those applying for visa by post/courier should include a demand
draft from the Bank of China to cover the visa fee and postage
charges.
the demand draft should be written in favour of the Embassy
of Sri Lanka in China and addressed to:
